There are a couple of different origins as to where they came from which we will explore today.

It wasn’t until know that I had something else saying that these things are sited. Everyone I told said that it could have been an eagle or a vulture but it wasn’t feathery enough and it had a huge horn on it’s head.

I had missed the bus and was in a hurry to walk a mile or so to school. I remember saying my goodbyes and hastily walking out of the door and into the street and as I was glancing down at my bag and rummaging through it I heard this ear shattering screech (it sounded just like pterodactyl in dinosaur movies). I honestly thought that it was someone watching a movie loudly and I was worried about school so I paid no mind to it. Then I heard it again but much much closer and as I looked up I thought I was dreaming. It was so huge that I was covered in it’s shadow and it was so close I could see the leathery detail. I remember its huge beak and its small clawed feet and all that went through my mind in that few seconds was “Is that a dinosaur..?” It made one more screech when it flew past me and another when it was much further away. I was frozen in place for about a minute until I was able to run off in fear.

Fuck Yeah Nightmares Mod Fey: I friggin love dinosaurs (pterosaurs aren’t considered true dinosaurs, but they are more related to modern birds than any living reptile and that’s your science fact for the day) I would have LOVED to hear that noise—most sound recordings imitating pterodactyls are actually eagles screeching, but due to their relation to birds, I can imagine what you heard to be pretty close!  Of course, as awesome as this is, I’m glad you did not get carried away or anything.  Here’s some more info on Kongamoto sightings for everyone.  Also, 8/10 for scares and thanks for sharing!

Windigo

I live in Northern Minnesota, believed to be one of the main residential places for this creature. The Windigo, who’s name I am only now daring to type his name now that there is substantial amounts of snow on the ground, is a terrible being.

Cryptid Sighting

I was 16 or so when this happened. My best friend and I were having a sleepover, and it was getting real late at night. My bedroom door was right next to the back door with a small concrete porch, and a few steps into a big, dark backyard.

Black Gap

So about 2 1/2 years ago my family went camping over spring break. We do this all the time and, living in Texas, we have a plethora of different places to camp. We usually alternate from “deserty” to “foresty” depending on the break. This was a desert trip, which meant that my dad could choose the location. He chose this nature reserve called “Black Gap” on the Texas-Mexico border.

▶ Lake Monster spotted off the coast of Queensland, Australia

The snaps, taken off the coast of Magnetic Island near the Queensland city of Townsville, have convinced locals they have their very own Nessie.

Magnetic Island is buzzing after the monster-like animal appeared out of the clear coastal waters.

Island resident David Herron took the photos and said he was “stoked” to capture the infamous beast on camera.

Red and glowing.

This happened probably four or five years ago when I was living in Washington state.

▶ Monster in Lough Foyle, Ireland

WATCH VIDEO HERE

Conall Melarkey: "Was shooting in Lough Foyle when this thing went past us. It was massive. Really don’t know what it was. There have been whales in the Lough before so maybe that’s what it was but Matthew was closer than we were and says it was no whale."

▶ Strange “Troll” Creature Photographed in Rural Pennsylvania

Something weird is lurking in the snowy forests of Pennsylvania, and one woman claims to have captured evidence of it on camera.

A woman named Polly took to Facebook a few days ago in order to post this photograph of a “sasquatch” that was snapped on her friend’s rural property. Like all great images of mystery creatures, the digital zoom has been clearly cranked to a max, making any kind of fine detail next to impossible to define, but it appears to show a gangly, crouched creature moving on all fours. Polly told Facebookers that the creature didn’t fear humans and moved like a juvenile primate:

A friend of mine lives in Pennsylvania and saw this as she called her dogs in. She was scared, because it didnt run off. She has 2 big black Chows. We think she saw a baby sasquatch. And that is what she thinks also, because she has never seen anything like this. She knows what a bear looks like, and she said it looked like a little gorilla. – Polly

▶ Do Giant Cookiecutter Sharks Exist?

image

There are two known species of cookiecutter sharks: the cookiecutter shark (Isistius brasiliensis) and the largetooth cookiecutter shark (Isistius plutodus). Both are about the same size—reaching lengths of around 50 cm—and both belong to a family of deep water squaloid (Squaliformes—the dogfish sharks) sharks: Dalatiidae (the sleeper sharks belong to this family as well). The two Isistius species are epi- to mesopelagic creatures; it is thought that during the day they remain in the mesopelagic zone (from 200 m to 1000 m below sea level) and then at night they venture nearer to the surface. This behaviour is known as diel (influenced by day-night changes) vertical migration, and many other mesopelagic creatures, from fishes to shrimps, perform this behaviour.
