So, one day about 9 years ago. My mother and I moved into a new housing estate, it was only newly built estate. But, the estate was built on the grounds of a old mental hospital. We were having a little family get together, and everyone had left and I went out side to take a break, it was around dusk. (Please bear in mind we were the only people in the estate and I wasn’t drinking.)

So I was outside stand on the front porch and all of a sudden I heard this gut wrenching scream of a woman, coming from the direction of an old nurse’s unit. I stood still for a few minutes, not daring to move, and I heard it again. I called my mother, and we stood for another few minutes, but heard nothing more.

Fuck Yeah Nightmares Answered: Maybe it was a normal ghost. When a banshee cries it is warning of death to those who hear it. It means that someone you know will die if you hear there cries. Also in Irish legends banshees would haunt certain irish families,  the O’Neil family is quite the famous one who have an banshee haunting them. So I don’t think you heard one, maybe just a ghost of some kind. But banshees don’t always scream, sometimes they knock on your window or door at night-time to let you know too lol, there creepy. 6/10 for scares and thanks for your story.
