The Reemlys

We moved into a twin home in 1994 when I was about 9. We were told that we were the 2nd family that lived here since the house was built around the 1900s. We met the previous owners and the realtor said that the owners before then had died in the house of unknown causes. Their names were The Reemlys.

There was Mr and Mrs along with their 6 children, 3 girls and 3 boys. The girls slept in the room my sister and I shared from the time we moved in until we both moved out on our own which was the middle room. My brother slept in the 2nd bedroom while my mom and stepdad shared the master. A year later we moved in, we got a black lab from the SPCA. That’s when all the freaky stuff happened. We still joke that Mrs. Reemly hated dogs because of the first incident. My sister, brother and I had gone to bed while my stepdad worked nights and my mom was sitting in our living room folding laundry. There was a room we called the “breakfast room” that had a walk in closet with folding doors. The folding doors randomly slammed open and my dog started flipping out. He went running into the breakfast room and backed out with his hair sticking up and whimpering. Of course my mom freaked out about it and went to bed. About 5yrs later, we had a pool installed. My sister was floating around in it and happened to glance up at the window to my brother’s room. She saw a boy that she called the “blue boy” because he looked blue in the window. When she went up to the room she saw footprints by the window and the room was freezing cold. Not long after, I was sleeping in my bedroom and happened to open my eyes a little. Standing by my bed was a little girl. I remember it vividly. She looked about 13 or 14 and had dark brown hair that was about chin length. She was wearing a nightgown that would fit the time of the early 1900s. The thing that stood out the most about her was her eyes. They had no color in them and resembled what someone’s eyes would look like while wearing white contacts except with darker pupils. She looked so fragile, almost like she was made of dust and could crumble at the touch. I wasn’t freaked out by it. I was more confused because I had never seen anything like it in my life. I didn’t want to call her a ghost because she didn’t appear “dead” to me. Just a person staring at me in the dark. She was TERRIFIED of me. She jumped the moment she realized I had seen her. Still half asleep, I rolled around in my bed and when I looked back, she was gone. I think I saw a ghost that night. There are no other words to describe it.It is one of the most vivid memories I have of my teenage years. I do think she was the daughter of the Reemlys. It would make sense, especially because I was sleeping in the room that the girls slept. I wonder why she died. I think she may have been sick because she was in that night gown.
